The FOSS4G-Asia 2017 logo design is inspired from the ancestral art of Kolam (கோலம்) painting which is part of the South-Indian culture. Beyond the usual geometrical circles and dots composing a Kolam, the FOSS4G-Asia logo integrates the following elements:
- The traditional FOSS4G ribbon in the center, part of the OSGeo conference roots and culture, traditionally used for every FOSS4G event logo around the world.
- The three main colors of the Flag of India , saffron, white, and indian green, used as color circles and placed in a different order in this logo.
- The Ashoka Chakra, the central element of the flag of India with its 24 spokes, shown here as surrounding the FOSS4G ribbon.
- Thanks to Nicolas Bozon for designing the conference logo and flyer.
