Dewas is an agro and industrial district of Madhya Pradesh. Groundwater Vulnerability assessment to delineate areas that are more susceptible to contamination from anthropogenic sources has become an important element for sensible resource management and land use planning. This contribution aims at estimating aquifer vulnerability by applying the DRASTIC model in Dewas city watershed having an area of about 67.71 Sq. km, using QGIS. The DRASTIC model uses seven environmental parameters (Depth to water, net Recharge, Aquifer media, Soil media, Topography, Impact of vadose zone, and hydraulic Conductivity) to characterize the hydrogeological setting and evaluate aquifer vulnerability. An additional objective is to demonstrate the use of QGIS Raster calculator for the calculation of DRASTIC Indices for groundwater pollution risk assessment. The study reveals that DRASTIC model is most appropriate to understand groundwater contamination risk assessment. Aquifer vulnerability zone are classified into four classes. They are low (<88), medium (88-117), high (117-139), and very high (139-163) vulnerability. The QGIS 2.14 has provided an efficient tool like Raster calculator are classified and encoded employing various map and attribute GIS functions. The DRASTIC vulnerability index, which is defined as a linear combination of factors, was easily computed in QGIS.
