ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The International Conference on GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences (GIS-IDEAS) is scheduled to take place in University of Science and Education - The University of Danang (DUEd), Vietnam, 6-9 December 2014. GIS-IDEAS 2014 is being organized by JVGC, DUEd and DUT. GIS-IDEAS 2014 is seventh in the series of very successful Conferences, with first and second been held in Hanoi, Vietnam in September 2002 and September 2004, the third in HCMC in November 2006, the fourth, fifth in Hanoi in December 2008, 2010 and the sixth in October 2012 in HCMC. The main theme of the GIS-IDEAS 2014 "Geoinformatics Education and Capacity Building for Urban Management and Smart Cities".
Apart from Technical Sessions on Geoinformatics technologies and applications, Special sessions on following topics are also planned.
- Urban Management and Smart Cities
- Education and Outreach
- Visualization of Spatio-temporal Geoscientific Data
- Environmental Management and Disaster Mitigation
- Area Informatics
- Geoinformatics application for Tourism and Heritage Promotion
- Open Source, Open Standards and Open Contents in Geoinformatics
The GISIDEAS 2014 will focus on application of GIS, Remote Sensing, GPS and Geoinformatics Education to address issues related to our natural, social and human environment. GIS-IDEAS 2014 not only aims to serve as a forum for scientific exchanges but also as a conduit for technology transfer through workshop sessions. Further, in order to promote a better understanding of local needs, field excursions and visits to scientific institutes in Vietnam are also being planned. The language of the conference will be English.
