ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The International Conference on GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences (GIS-IDEAS) is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 16-20 October 2012. GIS-IDEAS 2012 is being organized by JVGC, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) and Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Resources Geography (HCMIRG). GIS-IDEAS 2012 is the sixth in the series of very successful Conferences, with first and second been held in Hanoi, Vietnam in September 2002 and September 2004, the third in HCMC in November 2006 and the fourth and fifth in Hanoi in December 2008 and 2010. The main theme of the GIS-IDEAS 2012 "Geoinformatics for Urban Management and Revitalization".
Apart from Technical Sessions on Geoinformatics technologies and applications, Special sessions on following topics are also planned.
- Disaster Risks, Urban Management and Revitalization
- Natural and Environmental Management
- Humaosphere, Human Security and Creative Cities
- Area Informatics
- Open Source, Open Standards and Open Contents in Geoinformatics
- Education and Outreach
The GISIDEAS 2012 will focus on application of GIS, WebGIS, Remote Sensing and GNSS to address issues related to our natural, social and human environment. GIS-IDEAS 2012 not only aims to serve as a forum for scientific exchanges but also as a conduit for technology transfer through workshop sessions. Further, in order to promote a better understanding of local needs, field excursions and visits to scientific institutes in Vietnam are also being planned. The language of the conference will be English.
