The International Conference on GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences (GIS-IDEAS) is scheduled to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, 9-11 December 2010. GIS-IDEAS 2010 is being organized by JVGC and Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG). GIS-IDEAS 2010 is the fifth in the series of very successful Conferences, with first and second been held in Hanoi, Vietnam in September 2002 and September 2004, the third in HCMC in November 2006 and the forth in Hanoi in December 2008. The main theme of the GIS-IDEAS 2010 "Envisioning Environmental Security for Sustainable Development".
Apart from Technical Sessions on Geoinformatics technology and applications, Special sessions on following topics are also planned.
- Geonformatics for Sustainable Use and Management of Natural Resources
- Humaosphere, Human Security and Development
- Thang Long-Hanoi: Spatiotemporal Perspective based on Area Informatics
- Climate Change and Resilient Communities
- Geoinformatics for Health
- Open Source and Open Standards for Spatial Data Infrastructure
The GISIDEAS 2010 will also focus on development of spatial databases and analysis of spatial data for modelling and simulation of processes related to our natural, social and human environment. GIS-IDEAS 2010 not only aims to serve as a forum for scientific exchanges but also as a conduit for technology transfer through tutorial sessions. Further, in order to promote a better understanding of local needs, field excursions and visits to scientific institutes in Vietnam are also being planned.
